Human embodied physical systems
Matvey plans to tackle this by building a quantitative model of how feedback, system, and user parameters determine how strongly people embody robotic tools. Then use it as the objective in an optimisation framework for robot controllers. Finally, he will co-design new robotic systems that use the learnings to maximise embodiment.
Matvey is an engineer who builds robotic systems for hard environments, from the lunar surface to the human body. He is currently researching embodied physical systems in the HEAT Lab at the Oxford Robotics Institute. Alongside his research, Matvey runs the Society for Technological Advancement (SoTA), a permanent society for Britain's promising scientists, engineers and technologists who are optimistic about the future because they are actively building it.
