Scientific knowledge is expanding faster than our ability to make sense of it. Millions of papers are published every year, datasets grow exponentially, and fields fragment into ever-narrower silos. Despite this, genuine breakthroughs per researcher are stagnating. No individual scientist, and no single AI model, can navigate, synthesize, and act on this deluge alone. The challenge we're solving is to rethink how science itself scales: building an AI science stack grounded in swarm intelligence.
A framework of coordinated, specialized agents collectively reading, hypothesizing, testing, and validating across the scientific landscape. Just as swarms in nature solve problems no individual member could, this framework tackles the rapid expansion of scientific research, surfaces hidden connections across disciplines, and pushes towards new frontiers of discovery that currently lie beyond the reach of any single mind, human, or machine.
Youssef Nader is an Egyptian AI researcher and Vesuvius Challenge winner who earned his PhD at Freie Universität Berlin focusing on machine learning, AI explainability, and self-supervised learning. Prior to that, he graduated with honors in communications and computer engineering from Cairo University in 2020 and earned his master's degree from Freie Universität Berlin in 2023. In February 2024, Youssef led his team to win the Grand Prize in Nat Friedman’s Vesuvius Challenge - recovering over 2,000 characters of Greek text from a sealed, carbonized Herculaneum scroll buried byMount Vesuvius in 79 AD. His AI ink-detection models were central to the breakthrough, and he remains a lead contributor to ongoing scroll-recovery research.
